IG Habibur Rahman

Habibur Rahman (Bengali: হাবিবুর রহমান; born 1 January 1967) is a Bangladeshi police officer. He is an Additional IGP & currently head of Tourist Police.[16][17] Prior to join here, he served as DIG of Dhaka Range.[18][19] Before it he was DIG of Administration and Discipline at Police Headquarters, Dhaka.[20][21] He is also the General secretary of Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation and Vice president of International Kabaddi Federation.[3] Beside the responsibility of police, he is also known for his special activities and working for underprivileged people of the country, especially trans women and water gypsies.[22][23]

Rahman was born in 1967 at Chandro Dighulia in Gopalganj District, East Pakistan, Pakistan.[24] He joined the 17th BCS Police Cadre as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).[25]

Career

Rahman was a Dhaka District superintendent of police. On 23 February 2016, he was promoted to additional deputy inspector general.[26][27] In 2018, he rose to deputy inspector general (DIG) of Administration and Discipline at police headquarters, Dhaka.[28] He became DIG of Dhaka Range in 2019.[24] Rahman was awarded the IGP’s Exemplary Good Services Badge during the 2017 police week.[29] He was awarded the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) two times and President Police Medal (PPM).[30] In October 2022, he promoted as an Additional IG.[31]
